How to Manage Orders in the RestroFood Kitchen Manager Dashboard?

How to Manage Orders in the RestroFood Kitchen Manager Dashboard?

The Kitchen Manager Dashboard is where kitchen staff track incoming orders, update their cooking/delivery status, and hand off completed orders to a delivery boy. This guide walks through the Order List screen, the order status workflow, and the Order Details view.

Logging In and the Order List Screen

When a kitchen manager logs in, they land on the Order List page. This screen is the main hub for the day’s orders and includes:

  • Filter By Order Date – a date field with a calendar picker. Select a date (e.g., Aug 21, 2023) and click Filter to show only orders placed on that day. Dates with orders are highlighted on the calendar.
  • Filter By Delivery Date – a second date field and Filter button that narrows the list by delivery date instead of order date. This is useful when an order was placed on one day but scheduled for delivery/pickup on another.
  • All Pre Order – click this button to view orders that customers scheduled in advance (pre-orders) rather than orders for immediate preparation.
  • Log Out – ends the kitchen manager’s session.

The page title (e.g., Order List: Aug 21, 2023) confirms which date’s orders are currently displayed.

Reading the Status Tabs

Just below the filters, five status tabs summarize the kitchen’s workload at a glance:

TabWhat it shows
New OrderOrders that have just come in and haven’t been accepted yet
Cooking ProcessingOrders currently being prepared
Cooking CompletedOrders finished in the kitchen, awaiting dispatch
On The WayOrders out for delivery
Delivery CompletedOrders that have been delivered

Each tab has a small red badge showing how many orders are currently in that state (for example, New Order showing 1 means one order needs attention). When a brand-new order arrives, an orange “1 New Order Placed” alert also appears in the top-right corner of the page to draw immediate attention.

Understanding the Orders Table

Below the tabs, the orders table lists each order with the following columns:

  • Order ID – the unique order number (e.g., #75)
  • Order Date – when the customer placed the order
  • Delivery Date/Time – the scheduled delivery or pickup window
  • Delivery Type – Delivery or Pickup
  • Payment Method/Status – how the customer is paying (e.g., Cash on delivery) and whether payment is completed or processing
  • Tracking Status – a colored badge showing the order’s current stage (e.g., On The Way To Delivery, Waiting For Kitchen Accept), along with a running timer showing how long it’s been in that status
  • Status Action – a dropdown used to update the order’s status (see next section)
  • View Order – a button to open full order details

Use the Search box above the table to quickly find a specific order, and the entries-per-page control to adjust how many orders are shown at once.

Updating an Order’s Status

To move an order forward in the kitchen workflow, use the Status Action dropdown in that order’s row. Clicking it reveals the full list of statuses an order can move through:

  • Select Status
  • Accept Order
  • Order Placed
  • Pre Order
  • Order Cancel
  • Order Failed
  • Processing
  • Accepted Cooking
  • Waiting For Kitchen Accept
  • Cooking Completed
  • Ready To Delivery
  • On The Way To Delivery
  • Delivery Completed

Typical flow for a kitchen manager: Waiting For Kitchen AcceptAccepted CookingProcessingCooking CompletedReady To DeliveryOn The Way To DeliveryDelivery Completed.

Selecting a new status from the dropdown updates the order immediately, moves it into the corresponding tab, and refreshes its Tracking Status badge and timer.

Note: Order Cancel and Order Failed are also available in this list for orders that can’t be fulfilled, use these instead of leaving an order stuck in an earlier stage.

Viewing Full Order Details

Click View Details on any order to open the Order Details popup. This view includes:

  • Order summary – Order ID, order date, delivery type, delivery/pickup date and time, and payment method
  • Billing Information – customer name, phone number, and address
  • Shipping Information – the delivery name and address (may differ from billing)
  • Item table – item name, quantity, any extra items/add-ons, and the total price per line item
  • Print Invoice – click this button (top right of the popup) to print a copy of the order invoice for the kitchen or for handing to the delivery boy

Changing Tracking Status and Assigning a Delivery Boy

Inside Order Details, under Tracking Status Action, you’ll find quick-action buttons (e.g., On The Way and Delivery Completed) to advance the order without leaving the popup. Click Change Tracking Status to apply the selected stage.

Below that, use the Assign section to hand the order to a delivery boy:

  • Open the dropdown (default shows Select Delivery Boy)
  • Choose an available delivery boy from the list (e.g., Sumon Mia, Delivery Boy)
  • Click Assign to confirm

Once assigned, that delivery boy becomes responsible for the order’s delivery leg, and its status can continue to move through On The Way To Delivery and finally Delivery Completed.

Quick Workflow Summary

  • Log in and check the New Order tab (and the “New Order Placed” alert) for anything needing acceptance.
  • Use the date filters to narrow the list if you’re reviewing a specific day.
  • Accept the order and move it through Accepted Cooking → Processing → Cooking Completed using the Status Action dropdown as the kitchen works on it.
  • Open View Details to confirm billing/shipping info and print the invoice if needed.
  • Assign a delivery boy once the order is Cooking Completed / Ready To Delivery.
  • Update the tracking status to On The Way To Delivery, then Delivery Completed once it’s dropped off.
